What people are saying about No Monster Here
“I teach first graders and find this book great for younger
children…a mixture of safety and security as well as the
excitement of the unknown. The subject is close to the hearts of
young children… This story uses many uses many words in
children’s vocabulary while providing picture clues to reinforce
the vocabulary…illustrations are detailed, colorful, and
provide visual support to the text…an excellent addition to
children’s literature.” – Sheri, First Grade Teacher
“I’ll order a copy for my school. Illustrations are great too!”
– Greg, Child Psychologist
“I absolutely love this…adore the illustrations …and story…I can hear you …telling this story out loud. – Royann, Parent
“My kids love it! I”m pretty sure they have it memorized.” -Stacey, Mother
“My goal was to make No Monster Here come to life for them. So, before the story began I said ‘See if you can find the monster on every page! ‘ I told them he was there and to see if they could see him hiding from them. I instantly noticed a change in how they approached the story. They ended up finding him almost faster than I could every single time. They were laughing and excited about each page that I turned. At the end, we played hide and seek, and pretended to be monsters… – California State University Sacramento Student using our book with three year olds
“… I went online and read No Monster Here (to my niece). Before we started the book I told her that the author came to my class and spoke to us about the process of writing, illustrating, and publishing books. She thought that was the coolest thing and was excited to start reading. \She enjoyed the book and once she caught on to the repetition of “no monster here” she started to join in and read those parts with me.But, the really fun part for her was to draw her own version of the monster… I’ll just say that he turned out to be quite a character!” – California State University Sacramento Student
“I gave your book to a good friend for her birthday. She collects autographed books in general and children’s books are her favorite. She was delighted with the book and her students thought it was wonderful. I’m sure you’re having great fun with this project. – Sheri”
I hosted a Christmas party last night with several children in attendance. I set up a play area for them with toys and movies but forgot to put out the book. They found it on their own on the bookshelf and when I walked into the room the eldest girl, and only reader of the group, was having circle time! They were playing school and she was the teacher reading the book to the class. They all loved it and I let her have my last copy to take home. So now I need to order another one. I think I will get a few since I keep giving them away!-Teff
